| | | | The ASTRA-NET® Platform | | | The ASTRA-NET is an open and neutral technical platform which enables service and content providers to rapidly and cost-effectively distribute multimedia content via the ASTRA Satellite System directly to PCs in businesses and homes. The ASTRA-NET Platform allows service and content providers to offer three kinds of services to their customers: To receive ASTRA-NET, a PC or server equipped with an ASTRA-NET compliant DVB/MPEG 2 receiver card and a from 50 cm single feed dish with a Universal LNB are required. ASTRA-NET uses Ku-band broadband satellite transponders to provide up to 38 MBit/s from a single uplink earth station, the ASTRA-NET Network Operations Center. The 56 Bit DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption-based conditional access with Triple-DES key management ensures that a receiver card may only access services which are free (public services) or which the card is authorized to receive (private or closed user group services). | | | | |
